I was reading a DMT extraction method and it was the one that involves breaking up a pound of mimosa. It also involves lye, naphtha, and Ammonium Hyrdoxide.
My main worry is the Ammonium Hydroxide. How does smoking the Ammonium Hydroxide soaked crystals NOT harm you? On the bottle of Ammonium Hydroxide it says ""DANGER! CORROSIVE! POISON! May be FATAL if swallowed or inhaled." The Ammonium Hyrdoxide I bought is a 15 Molar Reagent, contains 21-72% Ammonium Hydroxide, and 10-35% ammonia. Can I use this Ammonium Hydroxide or should I use something else? And if I can use this, how much of the Ammonium Hydroxide should I mix into how much water in order to clean the crystals? (I haven't done the procedure so I don't actually have the crystals.)

Acids n' bases'
Grind the wood'
Base with Lye/water to ph13 add napth'
Draw off the Napth' evap half of it' stick it in the freezer'
In the morning' the crystals shall be in the bottom' all dirty yellow orange'
Gently poor off the napth'
Add a little warm water and vinagar to drop the ph to 3-4'
Add clean napth' swill it about to melt the oils n' waxes'
Draw off this napth' throw it away'
Add clean napth and sodium hydroxide until the ph rises to 11.5 ph'
The spice jumps into the napth solvent'
Draw off the solvent' evap on a plate'
Pure spice'

Tue, February 10, 2009 - 2:25 PMColton, if you can understand what is happening chemistry wise its a fairly simple process, do A LOT of research before you attempt any such action. you need to understand each component of the process, understand the action and safety aspects of each chemical you are using, some of which are potentally quite dangerous, search the erowid files, read as much as you can before you attempt anything, this is your life and body and potentially those around you as well, respect and keep it safe...

first off the crystals are not "soaked" in the ammonia. I'm not familiar with the TEK your using, but chemically, ammonia will not bond with the DMT molecule. It should evaporate. I'm far from a chemist, so not sure the exact process but all of this is available at Erowid and other sites.

Wed, February 18, 2009 - 11:09 AMColton, I understand the need for an in-depth explanation. Have you browsed through the forum's archive of older posts yet? For a while, it seemed like the only thing we were talking about here was extraction methods, so we started to refer folks to older posts. Nobunoni has invested a great deal of time laying it out in various terms. Not sure if it will answer your questions or if you'll find the in-depth explanation you're looking for, but do take a look if you would please as we've covered this topic quite a few times from a number of angles.
Perhaps Nobunoni has kept a set of links to some of his older posts?
