origin of term "spice" & first impressions

I tried it for the first time, about 40mg smoked.
I didn't know that its nickname was "spice" but my trip was all about "spice" . There was a female entity, a sort of god queen of spice, and she told me this was the spice that many search for, and this is what it is like.
What it was like was so fucking weird, of course, you probably remember your first time.....

I have lots of experience with other psychs and nothing ever has even come close to the shock of the first 10 minutes of this.

I did it a bit later, a much smaller dose so I could see what it was actually like since I had some amnesia about the first time. that was a lot better. If I had only done it the first time I might have never done it again, but after my second 15-20mg dose I felt very comfortable with it and appreciative of it.

anyway, where does the whole "spice" thing come from? It was so strange that I knew that was the best name for it without having heard if before. I was thinking maybe the fact that I thought of it as spice came from the Dune books before I read some posts here and realized that was a common slang expression for it.

  • Actually the slang Term "Spice" is relatively knew... Considering DMT has a proven history of at least 5000 years....
    It is from Dune...
As you guessed and the previous post stated...
    Remember the "guild"
They used Spice to Accelerate Evolution, to slow aging, and to Fold Space.
  • Interesting. Thanks for the info. I was quite impressed that I was able to get the slang name out of it without having seen it before, and I haven't seen or read Dune for years.

Yeah James, that's pretty intense, but not surprising. I have many coincidences like that on DMT...keep in mind that your mind can make a lot of crap up, but being told the word 'spice' while blasted before hearing it here in public is an event that must be noted.

Did this 'queen of spice' have any other similarities to Earth that we should study?

      Keep it up!

      Steve
      • Thanks Steve,

Well, its a bit hazy, but basically the Queen of Spice was the Spice entity, much like there is a Salvia being/entity that many have experienced, also female.

The Queen basically said - "people worship me, many search for me, you have found me, here is what I am." Visually she wasn't that clear since my entire visual field was full of the fragmentation of all known reality into geometric objects which were moving in clockwork as a sort of visual echo, if that makes any sense whatsoever! But I think there was a hint of Shiva about her. She wasn't terrifying, or beautiful, or pleasant. Just sort of "here I am, I am ridiculously intense, now deal with me."

I really felt like I was being told - you were looking for a very intense experience of a completely other reality? Well - here it is! Enjoy!

Later on the lighter dose I encountered some other entities, probably more like the machine elves though they were quite ephemeral and almost hard to notice. They said they were "creating realities." My whole trip was about the void vs. manifestation, and these entities created manifestation, in infinite forms......

The whole thing was sort of Hindu I guess in some way, although I'm not much particularly knowledable about Hinduism. Defintely a duality of void/manifestation. But that was on the lighter dose. The heavier initial dose was the sort of experience it is hard to translate into words let alone coherent concepts.
        • Interesting.
I was on the beach one day, before I ever smoked weed, or anything.
It was a rare day, the job I had at the beach, building houses during summers off, when I could take my swim suit and jump in the water after work. The air was a peaceful, balmy temp, no wind... The beach was clear of people, and the water was a peaceful green aqualescence.
I walked sleepilly out into the water... sank to my knees, and lay forward into the water. It was a sweet saline. And really, it felt like the air and the water were one. I lay facing down in the water... floating.
I guess they say in isolation chambers you are in a saline solution, that is the same temp as the air... and you start to see things....
I lay there for a few more seconds, put my hands over my eyes and drifted away...
Sleepily I walked to the sand bank, almost in a dream. :Laying back on the beach, with a slight berm behind me, I looked out into the ocean.
And there stood this being. I blinked, She flickered, but came back... This tall, tan, beautiful, creature with wild wispy red hair, full, glistening lips, deep hazel eyes, that gleamed this hungry, feral, overwelming power.
Her body was naked, her 6 breast heaved, she dripped with ocean water, her bush, a nest of red hair, glistened...
The power, and immense confidence in her shocked me.
          And she disappeared.
  • spice in any context refers to that which has been mundane and plain abruptly synergized and made complex and exciting ..................................................................
    • True enough synerGy, and that is indeed the most mundane explanation. All I can argue is that with salvia and other substances, despite having very bizarre and interesting experiences, I've never came out of them with a new name for the substance, or wanted to call any of the other ones "spice." it would be interesting to know how this nickname developed, who started it, etc.

Here's what I found on Wikipedia. I have not read the Dune books yet, but this explains A LOT:

        en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melange
        • Frank Herbert's books changed my life.
His ideas are transcendent, and explosive. More than anyone.
Asimov, Herman Hesse, Tolkien, etc are favorites too.
Now, to me, it is not a question of why dmt is called spice, only confusion over whether it should be THE spice...
It's fine with me, I'm sure there are other entheogens that can be called spice.

          Some ideas by Herbert:
Bene Gesserit: ancestral memory holographically stored and activated by spice, and meditation. Ancestors can possess you if you don't rule them. This one reason men can't overdose on spice and survive like certain women.
There are some people who think Herbert was influenced by his knowledge of the Kurds, with their purple eyes, their ancient names, they are candidate for the Fremen.
Melange is produced by worms, spice blows from larvae attract adults.
A drowned larvae produces liquor poison that a Bene Gesserit can transform in her body, by communicating at a nano scale with chemicals.
Leto III bonds his skin to the worms, to live "forever" or long enough to effect his future for humanity.
Guild pilots are transformed physically in spice clouds.
Bene Gesserit had a genetic program that was to resolve after 1000s of years in Paul Atreides... but actually one generation later...
To have a male that can transform spice, and be the Kasswitch Haderach, or a Pilot that is advanced enough to go beyond piloting, and take humanity past the veil (seen in glimpses in Chapter house by cloned Duncan).
I should have read the wiki, lots of good info..
just had to add my 2 cents.
