Musing on all this...

We can certainly see great cruelty in nature, capricious violence. Its not just about killing to eat - ask the mouse trapped in a cat's paws. Look at these dreadful diseases, that cause such unspeakable suffering, for the sake of replicating a strand of RNA. What the insects do to each other is unimaginably horrible.

But what's really going on? Something about that Biblical story, that sin enters the world through the First Man, by eating the fruit of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. That our evolutionary emergence into self-reflective consciousness is also a Fall - we have left the timeless Garden and entered the human realm - duality, linear time, the awareness of our own mortality. Good and Evil. And so now, that is the world we inhabit also, that is the world we see.

As William Blake put it:

The poison of the Snake & Newt
Is the sweat of Envy's Foot.
The poison of the Honey Bee
Is the Artist's Jealousy. "

So the entheogens are here. More and more people are opening the higher circuits of the nervous system, taking an evolutionary step beyond duality, and ultimately beyond the biological matrix altogether. Does nature awaken as WE awaken? Or perhaps we never left the Garden at all. Turns out there is only one of us here, one life, one spirit, dancing through all the forms. And that love - not the remorseless mechanics of natural selection - has somehow been the guiding principle all long.

A question was asked of Baba Hari Dass, a Hindu yogi who keeps a vow of silence: "Babaji, if all is One, then what is good, and what is bad?" The sadhu smiled and wrote on his chalkboard, "We don't see that all is One. And that's bad."
