The Nagas fascinate me. Patanjali, who wrote the Yoga Sutra, was a Naga, as was Nagarjuna, the great Buddhist sage. Kind of ties in with what Nobu says, that humans are a hybrid species to begin with. Cross an upright ape with an extratereestial intelligence, and you maybe get human beings. Cross those critters with serpentine Kundalini adepts, and you get something higher.
