set and the city

A lot has been said about set and setting so I thought a thread about it would be interesting.
Also curious about noise: music, traffic, people talking etc. and how this is taken into consideration.

Swim likes to light a few candles and wear loose fitting (preferably silk) clothing, while sitting in bed propped up by pillows.( as he routinely falls out) A "spotter" is used 99% of the time. He prefers silence but has played "new age" music ( patrick o'hearn, traditional flute) on a few occasions, with mixed results.

I'm interested in the effects of the setting on the experience and how much of an impact it has overall.
Intention welcomed as well.

Oh man' get out of the house' sit under a tree in the middle of no where' pitch your tent'

    No distractions'

As to music' it is on' but I can no hear it' cos I am no here'

I can only chuff half doses indoors'
The walls bounce back all that psychic energy and make the experience "Stronger" also more erratic'

If you are a master of "Mind" set and setting have no effect' "You should be able to switch off all external stimuli' even in the middle of a battle field' and go'
Great practice for this is to sit at a rave in front of the stack an hit the pipe'
It no takes very long before you can switch off completly to everything'other than your journey'

In the end it all melts into complete insignificance anyways'

    Safe journeys

      outside for sure

if available, forest of ferns, moss everywhere hanging from the trees, big old trees, dont need a sitter.....morning sun beams coming thru the tree branches.

for me, 80 percent of the time, I prefer eyes WIDE open...until the inner world and outer become fused. the transition will stick in your memory and will cause you great pleasure for years to come! 8)

Music........it seems to influence the trip to much so I dont care for it usually.

"In the end it all melts into complete insignificance anyways' "

ha! dont tell me that 8) I dont need another exestenial crisis....not today anyway.

Have to agree with you about the music, almost seems to "keep" swim earthbound...then again it could've been bad teqnique too.
Swim is still a beginner in this realm and has much to learn!

No sitter? Not yet ready for that...maybe holding on to fear?
DMT is immensely powerful, respect bordering fear comes to mind easily.

one mans existential crisis is anothers epiphany, I welcome them like an old friend...
        peace

      Love it! So true.
Summer is almost here, I hear the trees calling!

      Thanks.

Agreed with all the before mentioned. Swim is pretty big on set and setting. Eyes wide open, forest, day time, far away from structured settings ...

Music leads the mind, so swim does without it when hyperdiving. Swim's got all the music in the universe right in his mind anyways; angelsongs ;-)

Make it a ritual. Clear the space. Set your intention. Meditate. Open yourself up. Dive in with utter confidence. Surrender yourself to the experience. Have a blast, swim says.

Now i am really looking forward to summer!

Music is definitely out from here on...never did like it but in one session swims inner body became an immense city constantly morphing (something like an escher painting, only vast) interesting, but much prefer dissolving into colorful double helix spires and flying "up" into the universe! lol

Gotta work on the confidence...still trying to master complete surrender. Thanks for the great input!

Anyone care to share their preference of day vs. night?

Personally I think either can be quite interesting, but I prefer a little of both, right around sunrise. The fact that everything is getting brighter and more colorful and more defined as time elapses and the sun rises makes for a beautiful effect, and nature is just so peaceful at sunrise.

I prefer the warmth of the sun, for the brightness of colors behind closed eyelids. had quite a few memorable tumbles in the grass knolls of Prospect Park in Brooklyn.. when the setting wasn't quite right naturally it had an influence on the perception 4th dimension projections. I've had a Police helicopter swoop down about 40 odd yards away and put the flood light on me as I exhaled (in the younger more adventurous years).. memorable story of freedom in the spot light.

set and setting is critical in the time it takes to realize if you've inhaled enough or too much. stay in your centre.

also be(very a)ware of what clothing you are wearing. dont wear dead animal clothing unless you made it yourself. my addidas leather jacket gave me a fright one time when i wore it by accident one time whilst firing up. very tense ride it proved to be. next time the same sensation started on inhale, had to hold on very tight. thereafter recognised it and never fell into same vibe during hit.

    take care dudes

Crystalline allies can be of tremendous value as well. I carry quartz and rainbow obsidian with me on all journeys (properly discharged). Been thinking about involving other specimens as well, such as adventurine. There are many to choose from, depending on what you're looking for and what you vibe with. Rainbow obsidian has worked really well for me and is a personal favourite. It is said to bring in *elf energy* (whatever that means) while absorbing negative energy. I can attest to the fact that it does ground me. I wish my friend John Kellden was still active here as he could comment further on the value and different uses of a great number of possible crystalline allies. Bee has become somewhat of an expert as well in recent years. How 'bout it old friend? What's your crystalline ally of choice these days?

Lavender oil can be useful too in terms of accessing and opening one's crown chakra. The scent of lavender is calming to the nerves in general. The influence of our sense of smell upon the psyche is profound...
