Quick question'
How come if you watch TV' you no dream about it' unless you are a couch potatoe' I suppose'
Or am I different'
Does my brain know that TV is bullshit' no real' so just goes along for the ride' cos it's easy'
Then afterwards ignores it ?
What you think ?

Re: Dream space and TV
Fri, January 9, 2009 - 3:08 PMI think that if we pay more attention to what we watch, that we may dream about the content... just not the act of sittin in front of the tube... cuz thats the boring part... usually -

Re: Dream space and TV
Fri, January 9, 2009 - 6:46 PMI once played this game called Zelda - Twilight princess for 2 weeks straight.
I loved that game.
In my dreams, I would become the character from the game
in the third person
and go on epic missions.
there was a lot of sacred geometry in that game...
the vortex on my profile is from that game.

Re: Dream space and TV
Fri, January 9, 2009 - 8:54 PMbut ik thats interacting with the tv, your using your brain when you play the games, when you just watch tv not so much interaction, unless its really good program. though i think tv has stained my memories...., I remember this one time we were hanging out with the fonz and he tried to jumped this shark and we were like yeah fonzie...oh wait...that was just a show, thats not real....fuck!

Re: Dream space and TV
Fri, January 9, 2009 - 8:59 PMits easy... a little too easy...but yeah i think you just learn to kind of tune it out while still watching sitting slack jawed absorbing, its good training for the workforce... -

Re: Dream space and TV
Sat, January 10, 2009 - 12:07 AMTV just seems too synthetic... like its already a dream....

Re: Dream space and TV
Sat, January 10, 2009 - 8:39 AMits good training for the workforce
ha ha ha'
I believe it also has to do with the frequesncy of the image' it flickers and tracks out the brain' so you sit all gorp at it' but no really see it'
If you see the dog wag it;s tail infront of the box' it strobes with the screen frequency'
This mesmarises your brain' so you just go along with the flow'
Imustadmit' it is serious programing for children' I remember all my childhood shows'
Superman' Thundersbirds' Joe ninty' Magic round about' Rubarb and Custard' Stig of the dump' (that is me by the way' fuck materialisms :)))
Bill and Ben the flower pot men' Windy Miller (This one is always my Salvia experiences' I get taken and put inside of a windmill )Spotty Dog'
The Misterons' Scooby Doo' Keystone cops' Charlie Chaplin' Loral and Hardy' Play School'
Most of what I have mentioned was cartoons or animated puppets'
I wonder seriouslyhow much of what I watched as a kid' programedmeinto of who I am now' I took absolutley no notice at school at all' then sailed through the exams and university' so the cartoonsmust if taight me somit' he he he'
Nice input folks'
Be well'

Re: Dream space and TV
Sun, January 11, 2009 - 3:33 PMTV sensitises the right hemisphere in particular which in turn triggers elevated dopamine release. That's how watching TV can be not only emotionally but also physically addictive. A secondary effect of right hemisphere activation while watching TV is that you will accept what you see more uncritically. Much gets stored "unfiltered" sort of speak. The most successful advertising is achieved in this manner ;-)
Your brain has the capacity of registering about 60 individual frames per second. This is a key principle behind the realism achieved in such systems as Showscan (70mm film shot and projected at 60fps) -- your brain accepts what it sees as real (the added motion simulation pushes the realism aspect even further). Regular NTSC or PAL provides you with only 30 or 25 interlaced images respectively. Not quite as real, but more 'trance-inducing' due to the built-in "strobing" effect inherent to both systems. 100Hertz screens definitely bring out more realism, particularly when fed with progressive source media. A progressive HD plasma makes for some sexy viewing indeed ;-) Next: Super HD, even in 3D. Yeah baby! -

Me too!! :)))
Wanna see something cool? Point a video camera towards a TV set. Start angling the camera (best on tripod). At some point, fractals will emerge out of nowehre. It's a totally natural (well, technology-natural) effect. Oldskool fractals, dudes and dudettes. -

Mon, January 12, 2009 - 2:23 PMyeppers.... fun fun fun!
get used to it. we have to accept that we are going to create languages we can't speak as fluently as those that inherit these.
BTW
When I do get up the guts again, I am going to voyage to Salvia... and this thread reminds me of the past few voyages: as if I am waking up, from sober reality, into a tv show with the most bizarre feelings.... And, I am the center of this show..... yikes...
I have some kind of wall to burst through huh? -

Re: Dream space and TV
Wed, January 21, 2009 - 8:44 AMI always forget where I started with sally. I "wake up" from the tour right back here thouroughly startled and unable to remember which is the "real". Rather disconcerting and dislocating. I don't maintain much info. I'm not very fond.
You guys hear the story of the thousands of Japanese kids who ended up in the emergency room at the same time due to some morning anime strobing a particular color and "flashes per second". They were all having seizures. That technique is banned now. I spend VERY little time with TV. -
-
This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
