Negative after-effects of Changa..

Hi, hopefully someone can help me here...

I am a fairly well travelled man having been through several Aya journeys, DMT, 5meo-dmt and changa sessions.
I first smoked Changa about 6 months ago, and have smoked probably 10 or 12 times since then, really enjoying the amazing visuals and connection to the bio-systems I feel every time.
The last 3 or 4 times I have noticed a nasty side effect that seems to be recurring, and it is not specific to a certain recipe as it happened after some from the UK and a batch from Australia.
The journeys themselves are always amazing and I have had several recurring visits from a dancing Goddess who feeds visuals directly into my third eye as soon as I manage to release the ego.
The nasty effects usually happen 3 or 4 hours after the journey has ended, sometimes up to 8 hours later.
The first sensation I get is on my skin, where it starts to get really sensitive and scratchy, kind of like when you have flu. This can also be accompanied by a headache.
After that my chest tightens, not wheezy, but just really constricted, like it is a major battle to breathe.
Usually these effects happen at night, and I try to go to sleep but end up tossing and turning and feeling really uncomfortable.
It definitely feels like something in the mix is affecting my nervous system in some way to cause this reaction in my lungs and on my skin.
Is there anoyone here who could shed some clarity of the situation, and hopefully offer advice as to how I can avoid it as I really want to continue my explorations with the spice but obviously not at risk of doing any sort of nerve damage or having to endure these effects every time..

I have generally been smoking about a 1/10th of a gram of the changa mix in a pipe or bong.

Thank you, your advice will be appreciated.

    Hiya bro:-
Firstly' of what is the changa made of ?

There should be no thing in the changa to attribute to the effects you speak'

The spice and the maoi leave the body quite quickly'

    Blessings

Hi, thanks for your quick reply.

I know, that is what is confusing me. at first I thought it may be just a particular ingredient in a certain batch, but I tried some from another source completely. The first time I had it it was from a very experienced person based in the UK, and the other was from Australia, different appearance and slightly extended trip, but both had the same effect.

As I said, the strange part is that these effects only start many hours after the trip has ended and other benefits have worn off.
It is not something I have experienced at any other time than after a changa session, and as it has happened the last 4 or so times I have smoked, I can only assume there is a connection and reaction to something in it.

Is it possible that my nervous system is reacting in some way to the experience as a whole instead of specifically to an ingredient?

Believe me, I really want to get to the bottom of this as I was enjoying the journeys and the lack of after-effects so much and getting some incredible insights and connections ith the Goddess.
Perhaps I should try get my hands on some pure DMT and see if I get the same negative effects so that we can rule out any of the other Changa ingredients...

It is possible it is reaction to the maoi'
When I ingest large amounts of maoi I get a kind of shock effect' of where I feel flu like symptoms'
I go to sleep and it passes'
It could be your senstive to maoi'
Stop smoking changa' unless you make it yourself'
Use "Spice" seeing as spice stimulates the production of growth hormone' you should feel a real good after glow'

Of how much is the maoi in the changa' extending the spice experience' it could be too much maoi for your system' when smoked'

          Bliss

I have begun to seriously consider combinations.
Things already in your physiology that may compound with what is added.

Maybe try a long cleanse before your next journey to rule this possibility out.

            ...or the opposite.
Add to yourself things that enhance the nervous system or whatever else you "feel" may be the issue.

    All excellent considerations, Nobu, PUMA.

Tony, what do you do before and after? What do you eat or drink? This could be important. Also, are you currently or have you recently been on any medication? I figure I'd ask the obvious, just in case ;-)

Given that 'spice' has virtually no neurotoxic value, not even at high levels (endogenous simple structured compound, after all), I think it's fairly improbable that it is the source of what you're experiencing. DMT deaminates in less than 30 seconds whithout MAOI. Not so of course with MAOI. But when smoking/vapourising DMT or a mixture containing DMT together with an MAOI (smoked/vapourised), the effects will be extended but certainly not 8 hours (at least not to my knowledge). Problem is, as was already mentioned, that there is no way to know how the mixture in question was made. So questions about potency and parts remain unanswered, unless you have it analysed, or of course make it yourself. I have a feeling MAOIs play a role in this, or how your brain copes neuro-transmitter wise after the experience (which wouldn't necessarily be MAOI related). Eliminating the MAOI factor would be my first step.

      Better said, Dimi.

      That's roughly what I meant.

      narrow it down.

PUMA: "That's roughly what I meant."

And I was sayin' I was agree'n with ya ;-)

Tony, did you go solo on both accounts? I'm assuming so. Curious also as to what any of the suppliers think... Talked to any yet?

Thank you all for your advice and time taken to reply.

Speaking to others here the subject of MAOI reaction came up too, and as I have never had the reaction with straight spice, I would tend to think it must be that.
All times mentioned were with others and no one else experienced the effects I spoke about, except for the one where we had hiked about an hour up to a cave to smoke and ran down after as it was getting dark, but I think this had more to do with possible dehydration.
I agree that the clear solution for me is to look at local controlled manufacture and I am busy researching indigenous sources of DMT here in South Africa of which I have found many (both in Acacia and Delosperma's). Now just need to find the one with the highest percentage and the best extraction method.
I have a friend who is a Spagyrist and am hoping he can help...

Thanks again, and I will feed back when I get some pure again whether the effects are there still. Now what to do with the leftover Changa ;)
